Engaging in the New Great Struggle
Dear students,
Good morning! The report of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China made a pivotal assertion: “Developing socialism with Chinese characteristics requires resolute preparation for the great historic struggle with many new features.” In an era of peace, why do we still emphasize this great struggle?
According to Marxism, society advances through the movement of contradictions. Contradictions exist everywhere and at all times; struggle is the very form through which development occurs and innovation takes place—reflecting the fundamental law of contradiction’s unity in opposition. To dare to struggle is to acknowledge the objectivity and universality of contradictions, and to proactively drive progress in our cause. This spirit is the essence of the Communist Party of China.
Looking back through history, our Party has been forged in struggle since its very birth. The epic Long March of 25,000 li, driving out Japanese invaders, defeating reactionary forces of the Kuomintang, and founding New China—all were victories achieved through heroic struggles waged in blood and fire. The War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, the Socialist Transformation, the 'Two Bombs, One Satellite' project, and the restoration of China’s lawful seat in the United Nations—all were triumphs born of relentless, pioneering struggle. The reform and opening-up, the creation of a path for socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the historic leap of the Chinese nation—each was made possible by bold leadership and courageous pioneering in the face of change.
In the new era, under the leadership of Comrade Xi Jinping, the Central Committee has demonstrated unwavering resolve and vibrant energy in confronting major risks and challenges across all fields, ensuring sustained economic growth and long-term social stability. We have resolutely opposed erroneous ideological trends, bringing about a comprehensive and fundamental transformation in the ideological landscape. We have firmly resisted unilateralism and trade protectionism on the global stage, safeguarding national dignity and core interests. And we have waged a determined fight against corruption, bad work styles, and malpractice within the Party, advancing full and strict governance over the Party, restoring its vitality and dynamism.
The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation represents a historic leap forward along the path of socialism, and it is the comprehensive revitalization of an ancient nation with a huge population, vast territory, profound civilization, and diverse ethnic groups. It is the rise of a new type of major power, distinct from Western models, and the emergence of a novel civilizational form. This is a pioneering endeavor without precedent in human history. With no ready-made blueprint, it is inevitably fraught with difficulties, challenges, and trials—thus, the struggle ahead will be arduous, protracted, complex, and truly great.
Students, the new great struggle has already begun. It is the very mission entrusted to you by the times. You must study and understand the new features of future struggles. I hope you all will ignite the fire of youth, armed with fearless courage and unshakable faith, and step boldly into this great struggle. Through struggle, you will forge your own growth, advance societal progress, and contribute to the rejuvenation of our nation!

投身于新的伟大斗争
亲爱的同学们，“发展中国特色社会主义必须准备进行具有许多新的历史特点的伟大斗争”，这是党的十八大报告的重大论断。在和平年代，为何仍要强调伟大斗争？
马克思主义认为，社会在矛盾运动中前进，矛盾无处不在，斗争是事物发展和实践创新的实现形式，体现着矛盾运动的对立统一规律。勇于斗争，是承认矛盾客观性、普遍性，主动推动事业前进，这也是中国共产党人的本色。
回顾历史，我们党自诞生起就铭刻着斗争烙印。二万五千里长征、赶跑日本侵略者、打倒国民党反动派建立新中国，靠的是浴血奋战的伟大斗争；抗美援朝、社会主义改造、‘两弹一星’、恢复联合国合法席位等重大历史成就，靠的是披荆斩棘的伟大斗争；推进改革开放、开创发展中国特色社会主义、实现民族伟大飞跃，靠的是勇立潮头的伟大斗争。
进入新时代，以习近平同志为核心的党中央以顽强意志和充沛精神，应对各领域重大风险挑战，确保经济健康发展、社会和谐稳定。我们同意识形态领域的错误思潮坚决斗争，推动意识形态领域形势发生全局性、根本性转变；同国际上的单边主义、贸易保护主义等坚决斗争，维护国家尊严利益；同党内不正之风和消极腐败现象坚决斗争，推进全面从严治党，让党焕发生机活力。
中华民族伟大复兴，是坚持社会主义道路的历史性跃升，是人口规模超大、国土广袤、文明深厚、民族多元的古老民族的全面振兴，是与西方不同的新兴大国的复兴，是新型文明的涌现。这是前无古人的开创性事业，没有现成经验，充满困难挑战，斗争必然艰难、长期、复杂、伟大。
同学们，新的伟大斗争已拉开帷幕，这是时代赋予各位的使命。大家要学习了解未来斗争的新特点，燃烧青春，以无畏的勇气和坚定的信念，投身到新的伟大斗争中，在斗争中奋勇搏击，实现个人成长、社会进步与民族复兴！
