Good morning! Today, we gather to reflect on a profoundly significant theme: "Putting People First and Creating a Better Future."
You, the youth of this new era, stand at a historic crossroads, entrusted with the noble mission of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Let us jointly explore how the Communist Party of China has consistently upheld the people-centered development philosophy—and how this guiding principle shapes both individual lives and the broader society.
From its very founding, the CPC has placed the interests of the people at the forefront, taking as its goal the aspiration of the people for a better life. “The country is the people; the people are the country.”—a profound statement that reveals the Party’s roots, bloodline, and strength lie entirely in the people. The Party represents the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority, with no private agenda of its own. This is not merely a political declaration. Rather, it is a living, breathing compass for action.
In the past, the Party achieved countless glories through the strength of the people. The founding of New China, reform and opening-up, and the entry into a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics—each milestone was made possible only by the support and participation of the people. The Party firmly stood on the people’s position, practiced the mass line, respected the pioneering spirit of the people, and unleashed their creativity and vitality. Thanks to this close bond, China rose rapidly to become the world’s second-largest economy, undergoing transformations beyond imagination.
Looking ahead, the Party will remain fully committed to serving the people wholeheartedly. It will advance the entire-process people’s democracy, uphold social fairness and justice, address imbalances and inadequacies in development, and promote the all-round development of individuals and common prosperity for all. This means placing greater emphasis on enhancing people’s quality of life, ensuring that every citizen shares the fruits of reform and development. It calls for stronger focus on people’s livelihoods—education, employment, healthcare—creating better living conditions and more opportunities for growth. It also demands unwavering progress in the rule of law, safeguarding citizens’ rights and freedoms, and building a harmonious, stable society.
For you, soon-to-be graduates stepping into society, this is an era brimming with opportunity. This is your moment. But you should bear heavy responsibilities as the builders and successors of our nation’s future. I urge you to carry forward the Party’s fine traditions, cultivate correct views of life, values, and the world, actively engage in social practice, and grow through service to the people.
At the same time, dare to innovate, dare to dream. In this rapidly changing age, innovation is the key to staying relevant. Whether in academic pursuits or career choices, maintain an open mind, boldly explore the unknown, and challenge yourselves without fear.
